Dear Upper Elementary Parents/Guardians:

We have reached the end of the 2nd marking period, and that means the school year is about halfway over. This past week, students have been completing their second benchmark ELA assessment, as well as their STAR Math & ELA assessments. Our students have been making great amounts of growth throughout the school year and we look forward to continuing that success through the second half of the year. Below, you will find two important announcements about upcoming events this Friday, January 27th.

“Anything But a Backpack”

This Friday, January 27th, we are having an “Anything but a Backpack” spirit day at the Upper Elementary. Students are encouraged to bring their belongings to school in something other than a backpack. It sounds strange, but the students are going to love it! Here are some ideas of “backpacks” that students could bring their belongings in: small suitcase, sports bag, pillowcase, cooler, cereal box, infant baby seat, shopping bag, pop-up laundry hamper, pizza box, etc. Please be mindful that students need to be able to carry these items independently without support as they arrive/dismiss through the hallways. An example of an item that I would discourage students from bringing would be a microwave or something too big to fit in a bus seat. The staff here at the Upper Elementary can’t wait to see the creative ideas students come up with to transport their belongings to and from school on Friday!

3rd/4th Grade Fun Night
